How should I arrange handover and return?

1. You can message the owner to arrange handover and return day and times.
2. We recommend meeting in a public place that’s convenient for the renter to get to.
3. Once a rental request has been approved, you’ll be able to access the other user’s contact number under My Rentals.

What are preferred handover times?

Preferred handover times allow owners to specify when throughout the week they are usually available for renters to pick up and/or drop off items lent out. The arranged dates with a lender are shown within Activities page found in your dashboard.

When does my rental begin?

The rental period starts on the day the rental reservation has been requested to start by the renter and confirmed by the owner. The time and place of meeting are worked out between you and the owner directly within the WallaRhubarb messaging in system.

When does my rental end?

The rental period ends on the day that the rental reservation has been requested to end by the Renter and confirmed by the Owner. After the gear has been properly returned and the Owner has confirmed their gear is accounted for and in good working order, then on return this will confirm as ended.

Delivery Options

Owners can opt in to deliver items for a fee. For these rentals you’ll see “Owner offers delivery for a fee” message on the listings. After the rental request has been accepted, feel free to let the owner know you would like delivery for that rental, and they will quote you a courier price.

How are rental rates calculated when a renter

Rental rates are currently charged by 24 hour period, meaning a rental from 8 August to 14 August will incur 1 day of rental charges, providing the drop off time is < 24 hours from the pick up. You cannot select a drop-off time > 24 hours after pick up.

What happens if I return equipment late?

All gear is expected to be returned on the agreed return day. You should strive to return your rentals on time. If you expect to return a rental late, contact the owner immediately. Furthermore, we can charge a late fee per the owner’s request if you do not return the gear on time. This is on a per day basis. So if you return the gear at 5pm when it was expected by 12 noon, you will be charged a full additional day.

How can I contact the Owner/Renter?

Once your rental reservation request has been accepted, we will provide you the renter’s phone number in the confirmation page. But we still encourage you to continue communication on our messaging system in order to have an ongoing record of correspondence. This will also help us solve any potential problems with the rental if they should arise.

What are some tips for me as a Renter?

1. Respond promptly and courteously to owner message inquiries on WallaRhubarb website and mobile app.
2. Be on time for the exchange at pick up and return.
3. Keep the equipment clean and treat it as your own through the rental period.
4, Verify the owner’s ID at the start of the rental.
5. Leave feedback and a rating after each rental to help build trust in the community.
